The Salāt

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ

وَعَلَى آلِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

الَّذِي هُوَ أَبْهَى شُمُوسِ الْهُدَى نُورًا وَأَبْهَرُهَا

وَأَسْيَرُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ فَخْرًا وَأَشْهَرُهَا

وَنُورُهُ أَزْهَرُ أَنْوَارِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَأَشْرَفُهَا وَأَوْضَحُهَا

وَأَزْكَى الْخَلِيقَةِ أَخْلَاقًا وَأَطْهَرُهَا

وَأَكْرَمُهَا خَلْقًا وَأَعْدَلُهَا

Transliteration:

Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā sayyidinā Muḥammadin an-nabiyyi l-ummiyy,

wa ʿalā āli sayyidinā Muḥammad,

alladhī huwa abhā shumūsi l-hudā nūran wa abharahā,

wa asyaru l-anbiyāʾi fakhran wa ashharuhā,

wa nūruhu azharu anwāri l-anbiyāʾi wa ashrafuhā wa awḍaḥuhā,

wa azkā l-khalīqati akhlāqan wa aṭharuhā,

wa akramuhā khalqan wa aʿdaluhā.

Translation (Published):

O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muḥammad, the unlettered Prophet,

and upon the Family of our Master Muḥammad,

the one who is the brightest sun of guidance, radiant and dazzling;

the most far-reaching of the prophets in honor, and the most renowned of them;

whose light is the most radiant of the lights of the prophets, the noblest, and the clearest;

the purest of creation in character, and the most unstained;

the most generous of them in disposition, and the most just.

The Reservoir

There are days when the heart feels dim. Not rebellious, not rejecting, just dulled. We live under too many lights that glare but do not guide, and the soul begins to move by impulse rather than by clarity.

This ṣalāt gathers that scattered interior with one uncompromising image. It calls the Prophet ﷺ the brightest sun of guidance. Not a lamp for a corner. A sun for the whole horizon. If you are tired of chasing flickering lights, turn toward the one light that makes everything else visible.

Then it gives you a quiet relief. It begins with an-nabiyy al-ummī, the unlettered Prophet. Guidance came through him without the scaffolding of human study. He was untutored by man, taught by the Lord. He did not read the guidance; he became it. So the door of return is not gated by your credentials. You are not asked to be learned enough to be guided. You are asked to be sincere enough to turn.

The prayer then tells you why this sun reaches so far: his honor is described as the most far-reaching among the prophets, and the most renowned. A mercy for the worlds cannot remain hidden. His light is radiant, noble, and clear. Clarity is a mercy when the world is noisy.

And then, quietly, the prayer anchors all that radiance in what you can actually imitate. It praises his character, his generosity, and his justice. This is the proof of light. Guidance is not only what you admire. It is what reshapes you.

So begin where you are. Ask Allah to let his light clarify one part of your day. Then choose one act that resembles him: a truthful word, a restrained tongue, a generous patience, a just decision. Let one action be a window opened to the sun.

The Return

When the heart feels dim and comparisons multiply, return to the brightest sun of guidance ﷺ. Ask Allah to clarify one decision, purify one intention, and reshape one trait of character through love of him. Let one truthful word, one restrained tongue, one just choice be a window opened to the sun.

O Allah, return my dim heart to clear guidance through blessings upon him ﷺ.

One word to carry

أَوْضَحُهَا

awḍaḥuhā: the clearest; the most distinct; the one whose path is not ambiguous. A reminder that clarity is a mercy from Allah when the world is noisy.
